Mentoring
The North Eastern Circuit is committed to widening access to the Bar by offering meaningful mentoring opportunities for students from schools, colleges and universities across the region. Through the Diversity Hub, we connect aspiring lawyers with practising barristers who can offer insight, guidance and encouragement as students explore whether a career at the Bar is right for them. These placements give mentees the chance to ask questions, learn about the realities of practice, and build confidence in navigating the pathways into the profession. Schools and universities interested in placing students with barrister mentors are warmly invited to contact Glenn Parsons at parsons@psqb.co.uk

Outreach: How your school, college or University can get involved
The North Eastern Circuit has a long and proud tradition of visiting schools, colleges, and universities to talk about the life and work of a barrister — helping to inform, inspire, and occasionally entertain the next generation of advocates.
Building on this legacy, the Diversity Hub has created a new suite of interactive outreach materials, including our Your Day in Court case scenarios. These resources allow students to step into the shoes of barristers, role‑playing fictitious but fun courtroom situations to experience how legal decision‑making works in practice.
Schools interested in arranging a visit from barristers on Circuit can contact Glenn Parsons, Chair of the NEC Diversity Outreach Programme - parsons@psqb.co.uk

10k Black Interns Initiative
The 10K Black Interns Foundation is designed to provide internships for people of black heritage who are currently greatly underrepresented in the legal profession. Successful applicants are given paid 6-week internships across Circuit, when they will spend time in chambers, in court and marshalling. They will also spend some time working with the CPS.
